CAMILA CABELLO NEARLY VOWED TO NEVER PLAY FESTIVALS AGAIN AFTER 'DIFFICULT' EXPERIENCE
Camila Cabello nearly never wanted to step foot on a festival stage again after undergoing a "difficult" experience.
The I Luv It hitmaker put on a show-stopping performance at the iconic music festival over the weekend. Her racy show saw her backing dancers smothering ice lollies across her body as part of the routine.
But the 27-year-old may have never been billed on this year’s lineup, had she stuck to her word about the music events. Speaking about her Glastonbury set, the former Fifth Harmony member admitted that she felt a little apprehensive about what the audience’s reaction was going to be.
"It was a huge crowd," she told The Sun. "I am always a little nervous before festivals generally because it’s not necessarily people there who are coming to see just you. I always expect the worst, but I was so pleasantly surprised."
The star explained that because of the weather, which saw highs of 18 degrees across the weekend, she wouldn’t have blamed the crowd if they didn’t bring the energy she hoped to garner from the performance. She added: "I’ve actually played some festivals that were like that. I remember Isle of Wight was difficult."
Camila continued: "I remember being like, 'Festivals are hard. I don’t want to do festivals any more.'" However, her apprehensions didn't stop her from delivering what was praised as one of the best acts on the weekend.
The star sent fans spiralling as she stepped onto the stage wearing a distressed cut out top, hot pants and thigh-high boots. Despite some critics calling out her style of dress at the festival, others couldn’t deny Camila’s star power at the festival.
At the time, one viewer took to X to write: "Oh my god @Camila_Cabello just smashed it at @glastonbury what a show. Obsessed!!!" Another viewer commented: "Camilla cabello winning Glastonbury for me, best yet." And a third penned: "Fabulous! What a great show…this is what Glastonbury is for. Camila Cabello ." Meanwhile a fourth person added: "Camila Cabello putting on a performance for the history books."
But others had different thoughts. "Safe to say Camila won't be gaining a new fan because what am I actually watching,” one person wrote. And another added: "I wish someone could show me what my face looked like during Camila Cabello's opening song at Glastonbury because I was genuinely baffled."
The star’s fourth studio album C, XOXO reclaims her early twenties lost to the "f***ing s*** show" of being thrust into the public eye. With Camila having gone through the wringer with her highly publicised on-again-off-again former relationship with Shawn Mendes, it’s unlikely that Cabello is paying haters any mind.
Speaking to The Times, Camila said her new album "is finally letting go". She added: "Now that I'm not feeling so heavy and mentally burdened, I can actually have some f***ing fun and have long nails and dance and flirt."
