SZA AT GLASTONBURY LEAVES FANS DIVIDED AFTER SET CLASHES LEAVE PYRAMID STAGE QUIET

SZA's Glastonbury set has left fans divided after the Pyramid Stage appeared quiet during her performance.

The alternative American artist took to the stage yesterday (Sunday, June 30), closing out the festival which saw Dua Lipa and Coldplay headline the two previous nights. But SZA, whose 2022 album SOS hit number two on the UK charts, was seen to have drawn a much smaller crowd than expected.

It left Twitte /X users reeling and suggesting she should have been moved to a smaller stage. Avril Lavigne and Sugababes' performances led to path closures due to the amount of people filling in to see their performance. However footage of SZA's performance on Sunday show a different story.

One user took to the social media app and wrote: "That SZA crowd is one of the lowest I’ve ever seen for a Pyramid Headliner. Wow." Another added: "They've stitched her up, like."

SZA faced tough competition for her headliner slot with The National playing the Other Stage at the same time. Justice, London Grammar and Bob Vylan were also performing around the festival site. Those who tuned in to watch the American songwriter's set also claimed her performance was affected by technical difficulties.

A user watching the set wrote: "SZA 100% the worst headliner of all time @glastonbury what a dreadful dreadful choice. This is painful." Another user replied from the grounds and wrote: "It's dreadful...".

But some fans of SZA were impressed with the set. One wrote: "She’s had the best album of the last year. Great choice let down by sound issues which have been ongoing all day. She was at BST yesterday and was unbelievable."

Another user summed up the situation, writing: "SZA (17th most streamed Spotify artist in the world) having a sparse crowd as the Glastonbury headliner, while Sugababes and Avril Lavigne were over-capacity on smaller stages is a great illustration of how streaming doesn't equate to fans. I actually feel quite sorry for SZA..."

SZA's representatives and Glastonbury have been contacted for comment.
