ASHANTI HAS THE BEST REACTION WHEN HUSBAND NELLY SURPRISES HER WITH A BABY SHOWER
Who knew Austin-born rapper Nelly was so full of surprises?
According to Entertainment Tonight, the soon-to-be father of three (whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr.) surprised his wife, Ashanti, with a surprise baby shower. Per the outlet, the surprise baby shower was held at the Dolce & Gabbana children’s boutique in NYC on June 30.
In a video shared by Juliette Harris (from It Girl Public Relations) on Instagram, Ashanti and Nelly are seen getting off an elevator and they are greeted by their family and friends, who can be heard yelling “Surprise!” while holding up their phones. Nelly continues to smile as Ashanti can’t contain her shock. As the video continues to play, the “Foolish” singer continues to embrace her guests, including rapper Fat Joe.
Not only are Ashanti and Nelly expecting their first child, but they’re also married. Back in April, the couple revealed in an interview with Essence that they were engaged. But last month, TMZ reported that the two had already tied the knot more than six months ago. In an exclusive interview with ET, Ashanti shared that they were still planning their wedding ceremony and their engagement was “such a beautiful, intimate moment.”

Ashanti and Nelly sparked romance rumors in 2003 following their nominations (and big wins) at the Grammy Awards. Since then, the couple dated on and off until they called it quits in 2013. Over a decade later, according to US Weekly, the two reunited at Fat Joe and Ja Rule's Verzuz battle in 2021 and DJ City supposedly gave Nelly Ashanti’s phone number. Then the pair rekindled their relationship in early 2023 and the rest is history.
