HOLLYOAKS' STEPHANIE WARING IN TEARS AS SHE BIDS FAREWELL TO ICONIC CINDY AFTER 28 YEARS

Stephanie Waring broke down in tears as she bid farewell to iconic character Cindy in Hollyoaks following her shocking axe from the Channel 4 soap after 28 years.

The actress, 46, who has played Cindy Cunningham for nearly 30 years, sent fans a heart-felt message on Instagram. Stephanie became a household name after joining the show on November 13, 1995.

Stephanie, who is the only original castmate to be included in a recent cull of 20 actors, addressed her fans in a teary social media post to pay tribute to the character that was 'worthy of her tears.' She was triggered by a message she received from her fiance praising her for her devotion to the soap.

Stephanie said: "I woke up to this message from my fiance Tom Brookes. It reminded me to feel. It reminded me how strong I am, it reminded me of what i have accomplished, it remindded me that I created a Hollyoaks icon and she is worthy of my tears.

It reminded me that i am loved and that I am so unbelievably lucky to have a man who sees me for me in my life. Stephanie addressed fans in tears is gearing up to leave the Hollyoaks set for the last time after her shocking axe from the Channel 4 soap.

Taking to Instagram this Wednesday, May 29, Stephanie shared a video captioned: "there’s always a flip side… and a lot more goodbyes", in which she opened up about her upcoming exit and the tearful goodbye she had to share with the crew, whom she has worked with for 16 years.

Stephanie is the only original character to have been given the boot and broke down in tears as she said: "today I had to say goodbye to some crew members I have been working with for the last 16 years and known for the last 28 years. And it just hit me like a thunderbolt. I'm really going to miss these people."

As the actress continues to show up at the Lime Pictures studios in Childwall, Liverpool, to film her last scenes in the long-running show, she added: "for me it's just important to keep showing up with a smile on my face, but I'm really going to miss everyone and it's really getting closer now till I have to say goodbye properly."

Many of Stephanie's 230k followers replied to her post in the comment section and offered supportive messages. "Seeing how real and raw you've been about this whole situation really shows me what an incredible person you are steph, cindy will live on forever, they've made a huge mistake", one of them notably wrote.

Stephanie's co-star Scott Drinkwell actor Ross Adams also chimed in: "You’re going to fly", pairing his reassuring message with a red heart emoji.

Cindy Cunningham's axe from the Chester-based series was announced by bosses in early April, 2024, and came as a huge shock for many fans. Stephanie, who was cast in Hollyoaks in 1996, on the other hand, shared her heartbreak over her exit, writing on Instagram: "I can't believe I am writing this and I have taken the last two weeks to process and come to terms with the shock of what I am about to say."
