COURT REPORT: DANIIL MEDVEDEV FORGETS THE SCORE, COCO GAUFF IS PLANNING A TRIP TO THE WEST END, LORENZO MUSETTI DISCOVERS THE LIFE OF A PARENT... AND A YOUNG REPORTER IS STEALING THE SHOW!

  • Coco Gauff is looking for a West End theatre ticket after her latest victory
  • Theresa May's move away from politics allowed her to forget General Election
  • Daniil Medvedev gave Centre Court a laugh when he miscalculated the score

The drama at Wimbledon continued apace on Wednesday as hopes of Emma Raducanu making a deep run were strengthened following a demolition on Court No 1.

The busy schedule struggled to get going amid the drizzly conditions in west London but once play did get underway it ignited with fans thrilled on the show courts and the outside courts.

Naomi Osaka's grass-court frustrations continued, while it was an all-Italian blockbuster on Centre Court between world No 1 Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini

Mail Sport's NATHAN SALT was on hand to recap some of the things you may have missed from the third day of the championships.

MAY DAY

In an other election year Theresa May would have no time to indulge in some Pimm's and a day at Wimbledon.

But with the former Prime Minister stepping down from her Maidenhead seat for today's General Election, opportunity knocked with a Royal Box seat up for grabs alongside her husband Philip.

When she announced the ;difficult decision' to leave her seat she said it would enable her to spend more time on 'causes close to my heart'.

Well, after a thrilling day on Centre Court with Daniil Medvedev, Naomi Osaka and Jannik Sinner in action, she may not be rushing back to politics.

THAT'S A LOTTO

Spare a thought for Finland's Otto Virtanen for what he has had to navigate by only the second round of this slam.

The 23-year-old had to save four match points in his first round qualifying win over Franco Agamenone, then follow that up with another four match points saved in the second round of qualifying.

After making the main draw the Finn was a pallbearer at his grandad's funeral back home in Finland, before he went on to back that up with a round one win over Max Purcell.

So by the time he faced No 12 seed and Queen's champion Tommy Paul, he would have been forgiven for having little left in the tank.

And so to see him go toe-to-toe, and more often than not get the better of the fancied Paul, was brilliant to see, even if he did fall just short to lose 4-6, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.

YOUNG REPORTER WINS OVER STARS

Wimbledon's youngest reporter Priya-Rose Brookwell has proven a huge hit with players, with her 'cheeky' questions winning over stars like Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu.

In a video that has gained more than 65,000 views in the last few days, the confident youngster got a hug from Ons Jabeur, found the secrets of Coco Gauff's style and also got Raducanu to reveal her dream Royal Box guest.

BUSY BEE

Those at Wimbledon love playing the star spotting game and with a brilliant array of matches across all the courts, Brentford boss Thomas Frank made the short trip across west London to indulge before the grind of pre-season and the return of the Premier League take hold.

THEATRE BUFF COCO

While her fellow American Jess Pegula opted to challenge herself with an escape room during her down time, Coco Gauff is on the hunt for some last-minute theatre tickets ahead of her third round match with British surprise Sonay Kartal.

Joking that she's already seen the Lion King 'six times, but I could make it seven', the No 2 seed is eager to hit the West End to break up her French studies and Disney+ binges.

'I saw the Michael Jackson one in New York. It was amazing,' she said. 'Maybe that again. I don't know if they have 'The Wiz' here, I don't know, I'll have to look. Either that or something I've never seen before.'

FORGETFUL MEDVEDEV

Daniil Medvedev can unintentionally make a lot of people laugh and he had yesterday's Centre Court crowd roaring with laughter when he seemingly forgot a tie-break was still active.

The Russian was locked in a fierce battle with Alexandre Muller and at 6-6 in the first set, a tie-break was in play to settle the opener.

Well, when Muller raced into a 6-3 lead Medvedev took to his chair, believing he had lost the set… only for the chair umpire to prompt him back to his feet when it is actually first to seven.

Immediately he lost the point, and then the set, before later winning the match. Nonetheless, it gave everyone a good chuckle.

DUTY CALLS FOR LORENZO

Grand Slams are a busy time for players, not least making sure they spend enough time on the practice courts, eat the right things and get sufficient rest.

But parenthood does not stop at a Slam and Italian ace Lorenzo Musetti found himself walking the streets of Wimbledon pushing a pram around ahead of his second round match up today.

Musetti and his girlfriend Veronica Confalonieri welcomed a son, Ludovico, earlier this year and the youngster was given a whistle-stop tour of Wimbledon village before dad went back to practice.

MARIA'S MEMORY

Maria Sharapova was among the guests in the Royal Box on Wednesday and it was a day slightly sweeter for her than most.

Yesterday marked exactly 20 years to the day since she won her first Grand Slam on Wimbledon's Centre Court.

With the memories appearing as vivid as ever, no wonder she couldn't stop smiling!
