‘SUMMER HOUSE' EXES CARL RADKE AND LINDSAY HUBBARD RETURNING FOR SEASON 9, FILMING BEGINS THIS WEEK (EXCLUSIVE)

Why let an ugly breakup get in the way of work? With “Summer House” starting production on Season 9 during the July 4 holiday, Variety has learned that both Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard - whose broken engagement provided the show’s eighth season with its dramatic spine - will both be returning to the show. Filming begins on the Bravo show in Water Mill, N.Y. this week.

Both Hubbard and Radke have been on “Summer House” since its first season in 2016, when they became close friends. After a few false starts at dating, they officially became a couple in early 2022, and Radke proposed to Hubbard on camera later that year during the show’s seventh season. They were meant to get married in Mexico in November 2023, but news of their breakup exploded onto the internet on Aug. 31, 2023, after Page Six confirmed the news.

Fans of the show knew from cast interviews - and from the “Summer House” panel at BravoCon last November - that the breakup had been filmed for the show. Thusly, Season 8 of “Summer House” played out as a modern day “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” as Radke and Hubbard bickered with each other - and worse. Hubbard questioned Radke’s sobriety on several occasions - he stopped drinking in 2021 - also referring to him behind his back (but on camera) as “Cocaine Carl.” For his part, Radke flailed professionally, coming up with several nonstarter business ideas (including acting?), before he eventually told Hubbard he wanted to return to work for Loverboy, the beverage company founded by fellow castmate Kyle Cooke. Radke had previously worked at Loverboy, and was made miserable by it, but when Hubbard reacted with skepticism, Radke told her he needed her to be more supportive and “soft.”

The filmed breakup took place after production had seemingly officially ended on Season 8, at Hubbard and Radke’s shared Manhattan apartment. Hubbard has accused Radke of calling producers in order to set her up and humiliate her in front of the audience, but Radke has denied that, claiming that he went into the conversation being to working out their issues.

Season 8 of “Summer House” premiered in February, and was the most-watched season of the show. In the recent two-part reunion episodes, Radke and Hubbard resolved nothing, but Radke left the door open for a future friendship.

The rest of the “Summer House” cast will remain the same, except for Danielle Olivera, who announced her exit as a full-time cast member on social media. Married couple Cooke and Amanda Batula, Paige DeSorbo, Ciara Miller and Gabby Prescod - along with Season 8 newbies Jesse Solomon and West Wilson - will all return for Season 9. New yet-to-be announced cast members will also join the series.
